Hello! I paid a visit to Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop a few days ago, and it was definitely an interesting shop! There's Judge Wapner saying "I sentence you to drink my soda!" on the cream soda bottle. It was $2, and SO good. Very sweet, but good.

Little pop rock chocolates. I love pop rocks, and these chocolate ones are pretty hard to find!

They're basically normal pop rocks covered in a layer of chocolate. Perfect for road trips and movies.

 

 This was gross though. 

Additional info: There's street parking everywhere, but walking down here from Colorado Blvd. would probably be the best decision.

The Father of All Buns

''Papparich: The Father of All Buns.''

I agree - the buns are absolutely great! It was my first time going to Papparich today, and I am sure it is not going to be my last time. We got one chocolate bun and one milk bun for about $5 total. They were soo warm and fluffy! The first bite was like heaven: the milk bun was just a little crispy on the outside, and the empty center made the bite down seem like me eating a cloud. It was not overly sweet, and you could barely taste the butter (it made the center even softer). I love butter, and I even picked the buttery part out to just put in my mouth. Gosh, it was so good. 

A few minutes later, I tasted the chocolate bun... Guess what? I liked the chocolate bun even more!!! It was extra crispy, and it only tasted a little like chocolate. I think they just put a chocolate layer over their original bun to make the bun taste chocolatey, but I don't even care! It was PERFECT. It wasn't even my bun, but I wanted to gobble it all down :( 

Despite how much I like Paparich, I would prefer if they had better customer service. It seemed as if the two young workers there were just talking talking talking. I guess it's understandable, since there seemed to be no business haha. At least the girl was nice! I'm still a bit disappointed that the only desserts they have are the cookie sandwiches and signature buns... More varieties please?

Additional info: You can park on the "90 minute free" parking lot on Green and take 5 minutes to walk to Papparich, or just park on the streets. It's usually easier to park on school days. They also have outside seating, so it would be great going at night.

Dena Burgers

Yes, Dena Burgers. Although they have just opened last year (2011), I have frequented this place at least ten times. If you ever decide to go, keep in mind that their Orange Grove Salad is a must try: it has the normal salad lettuce, along with walnuts, orange slices, and chicken breast slices on the top. Their sauce is what makes the salad THE salad though - never forget to put your sauce on if you decide to take the food to-go! I don't know what exactly the sauce is made of, but I do know that they use boiled wine plus a pinch of garlic.

Although I get the Orange Grove salad almost every time I visit Dena Burgers, yesterday, I decided to get Fish & Chips. The fish was absolutely amazing, and the fries were nice and hot. They do, however, have a little problem with water... They seem to have too much water available - is that weird? Well, first of all, I love ketchup with my fries, so naturally, I got ketchup. What did I squirt out? Thick tomato juice. I am 99% sure that they added water to their ketchup, and the 1% margin of error is for the chance that they just bought extremely low quality ketchup. Next, was a problem with the Sprite we got: it was soda water! I could swear that they put 25% sprite and 75% water in our cup haha. Luckily, the waitress/kitchen worker was very courteous, and gladly changed the drink for us, so we decided to get lemonade!! ...Again, they added water. I didn't really care anymore, since it might have been just 25% water that time.

Additional info: Parking is very easy, as Dena Burgers is right in the market plaza. There are always empty seats, and even on the busiest days, you would find a parking spot in less than 8 minutes. Dena Burgers is never completely full, and you could go there dressed in whatever you want. Drop by if you want some warm Mexican food, but if you're not a great fan of watered-down drinks, don't come. The workers are courteous, but don't exactly seem to love their job. However, I can guarantee you that the owners are great! You can spend $8 here and be full enough to not have your next meal (which isn't healthy, by the way) ;)  Oh, and you absolutely must try the Orange Grove salad! If salads aren't your thing, I heard their spicy bacon and avocado sandwich is pretty popular too.

Euro Pane Bakery

 

Sorry, no other pictures this time :(  I took this just seconds before it got devoured by my monstrous sister, but seriously, it is soooo good! Anyway, I went to Euro Pane after getting out of the post office, so I thought, "why not?"

It was my second time there, and I can still say I like it there. The first time I went, my friend and each got the eggs salad sandwich with sourdough bread, supposedly their house special and something that many people love. I guess I'm not one of the "many" people, since I didn't like the sandwich very much. I gotta admit the bread was pretty good, and the egg super soft, but I just felt as if the sandwich was too bland. The best part of that meal was the two macarons I got. I am confident that those macarons are the best I have ever had (yeah, I haven't had that many yet)!! They weren't overly sweet like the ones at Lette Macarons just a mile away, and the two macarons I got DEFINITELY did not leave an after taste like the ones at Lette.

Today, my sister and I shared a tuna melt sandwich and two macarons (raspberry + sea salt caramel). They also gave us two chocolate chip cookies with our $8.25 sandwich! Those cookies were amazing!The tuna melt was all right; it was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I recommend you eat it warm - as soon as you get your plate/bag! I took the first bite warm, and the rest cold... You can imagine how I felt eating a cold tuna melt sandwich.

Okay, more on the macarons now. As I said before, the macarons are not overly sweet, and do not leave an aftertaste. I swear, I could eat them every day for the rest of my life, if they weren't so expensive lol. $1.85 each, they're making quite a bit on just the macarons.

Come here with friends, family, or just for brunch. I don't think it's a great place to study though, since it's quite loud and right next to Paseo Colorado. Hope you enjoy it there! :)

Additional info: There's parking across the street in the parking lot, and you can easily get your ticket validated at Macy's. There's also limited street parking, but if you're a terrible parker like me, I'd suggest parking near City Hall and paying a few quarters for easy parking during the weekends.

Go Fresh Mongolian BBQ

 

Hello again,

This time I will be talking about "Go Fresh Mongolian BBQ." It is about $8 for each bowl, but you can fill it up as high as you can! Clearly, my companion and I did not fill it up as much as we could haha. They have an array of things to choose from, ranging from turkey meat (which they ran out of on the day I went), beef, pork, and chicken, to carrots, broccoli, bamboo shoots (most likely from the can), and pineapples! Like every other Mongolian place, they roll their meat up to take up space in the bowl. I suggest taking the pieces that may have accidentally uncurled, to get the most meat out of your money :) There are also sauces to the right: garlic sauce, BBQ sauce, teriyaki sauce, etc. Everything went pretty smoothly until the guy walked out to make our noodles... My companion and I both got burnt noodles, and the meat was extremely tough to chew on. Ugh. The noodles were blackening, and even the broccoli was a bit brown. However, if you ignore the burnt taste and the rubber meat, this isn't too bad of a place. I didn't finish my noodles, but my mother finished it for me. If you don't like noodles, then don't get noodles, because they give you a box of rice. Happy eating again!

Additional info: Parking is very easy when PCC is out of school. Try to go during the weekends, or late at night. It also seems as if they rarely turn on the air conditioner, so avoid going on really hot days!

I've been wanting to make a food blog for a while now, and I am so excited to use this! I live in Pasadena, California, and I LOVE food. I will be posting about various restaurants, ice-cream stores, markets, etc. and I will tell the truth. I'm not a picky eater, so if I say a restaurant's not good, chances are that the restaurant really isn't that good. Furthermore, I will be posting recipes that I reallly like on this blog, so happy eating!

I'm not planning to introduce myself yet, as you will learn more about me as time goes on. For the time being, call me "J." Feel free to recommend this blog to your friends and leave comments, or recommend new places for me to try.
